My title illustration is a slot book

I've been asked about the book illustrated at the head of my blog. I made this "slot book", which I believe was originated by John Wood, while at a week long workshop with Adele Outteridge and Wim de Vos at their Studio West End in January 2006. The book really does slot together, has folded covers, and is completely non-adhesive. The pages were torn with a palette knife which produced tiny curls. Wim, printmaker and perspex guru, made a perspex box for my little book to protect the curls. Studio West End is in Brisbane - 35 Mollison Street, West End, 4101, Queensland, Australia.

I'm afraid I don't know half what you are talking about, but I'm sure if I keep following your blog, you'll continue to explain.

Best wishes for a very happy new year, my new friend!

  3. Judy, I'll have to make another one (if I can work it out after all this time) and take photos so you can see how it's made. I think it was easy but very fiddly. I'll have to work on it.

  5. Namaste' Carol this is why I love finding people like you, the inspiration is divine. The colors sweep me away. I would love to know more about this book too :0) Being an artist I am always looking for something to do out here to fund raise for the eco center/wolves, for the youth I work with, but being not for profit hits hard every year out of my own pocket. Too bad you live so far away It would be cool to have you come in and do some classes here at the ranch for youth that come out. I like your style ;0) the little mini booklet idea of yours was wonderful probably would be cute to do up some of the wolves here in a story format/mini booklet for kids to take home with them when they visit. :0) Metta.
